Golf: Frank Etwi-Barimah Wins Captain\'s prize

Frank Etwi-Barimah scored 42 points, beating Kweku Okyere on countback, to win this year\'s Tema Country Golf Club - Captain\'s Prize competition - played at Tema, 18 miles from the capital Accra, on Saturday.

Francis Sorgbodzor took the third position with 40 points, beating Nana Owusu-Afari on countback. Beatrice Hampton won the Ladies event with 39 points, Florence Etwi-Barimah placed second with 38 points while Esther Antwi was third with 36 points.

Baba Akologo won the Professionals event with 68 gross, whilst Victor Brave-Mensah took the second position with 69 gross with the third position going to M. Komasa with 69 gross.

The one-day 18-hole Stableford Competition which was opened to members of the Club only, was sponsored by Mr John Wattengburg, Captain of the Club.

Mr Wattengburg whose term of office ends this year, praised members of the club for the support they have given him since he assumed the captainship, some two years ago.

He appealed to them to co-operate with the in-coming Captain to enable him discharge his duties efficiently.

Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, Minister of Transport and Communications, assisted by Mr Mike Erzan, President of the Ghana Golf Association, presented the prizes to the winners.
