JUL 13, 2021 LISTEN

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Zongo Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Osman has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo.

He said the President and his vice Dr. Alhaji Bawumia should stop fighting for salaries for their wives and focused on addressing security challenges in the country.

Speaking to the Modernghana News correspondent in an interview today at his Kumasi Suame Magazine workshop, Alhaji Osman said it does not make sense to pay salaries to President Akufo-Addo and his vice with same extended to their wives who are not recognised by the constitution as public officials.

According to the NDC guru, Ghanaians are currently living in a state of fear and panic over the ever-growing cases of armed robbery, murder and worst of all unwanted accidents due to bad roads.

He added that in every progressive economy, security issues are treated as a topmost priority but in Ghana, he observed that less attention is given to the sector, thereby leaving people with dubious characters to terrorise the citizenry.

Alhaji Osman however charged Nana Akufo-Addo, the Commander-in-chief of the Ghana Armed Forces and Police Council respectively to channel those monies to equipping the country's security set up to help fight crimes and threats of terrorist attack.

The NDC sympathizer noted that the current happenings in the country suggest that people have lost confidence in the Akufo-Addo government consequential to economic hardship and government's inability to solve the challenges confronting the people.

Alhaji Osman further urged Vice President Dr Bawumia to focus on the development of the country and stop engaging in what he described as dirty campaigns towards the 2024 elections.

The Zongo Caucus chairman for Ashanti Regional NDC advised Ghanaians to support and cooperate with the security forces by a way of assisting the police with credible information to criminals and suspicious elements in their communities for quick intervention.
