Fire gutted parts of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations ( SCOAN ) complex in Ikotun area of Lagos state on Monday night.

The incident occurred around 11pm after the candlelight procession held in honour of TB Joshua, the late founder of the church who died on June 5 at age 57.

Evelyn, the wife of the deceased, led thousands of church members during the candlelight procession at the SCOAN faith resort in Ikotun.

The event is the first on the list of special programmes to be held in Joshua’s honour.

After the candlelight procession, a fire broke out at the storehouse within the church complex.

According to a statement issued by the church management, the fire outbreak occurred as a result of an electrical fault.

It noted that nobody was injured.

“In the late evening of Monday 5th July 2021, there was a minor electrical fire incident at a storehouse within The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) complex. The incident was quickly brought under control without any injuries,” the statement said.

The statement added, “As part of the preparedness for the weeklong services celebrating the life and legacy of Prophet TB Joshua, The SCOAN has worked closely with relevant government agencies including the Lagos State Fire Services, whose members were on ground at the time of the incident.

“We thank God for His continued protection. We assure the general public that there is no cause for alarm and the services celebrating the life and legacy of Prophet TB Joshua will continue as scheduled.”
