Social News Ho: Coalition of three transportation operators appeal for better conditions of service
JUL 8, 2021 LISTEN

A coalition of some transport operators in Ho, the Volta Regional capital has appealed to the Ho Municipal Assembly and the Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa for better conditions of service in the area.

The three transport groups namely, Gedah City line transport company limited, Global millennium transport Association Ghana and Power Express are on the neck of the assembly for what they say is total neglect and failure to provide the enabling environment for them to work peacefully.

They said the assembly failed to allow them operate at Ho lorry park after they have duly registered and fully paid their registration fees for it for the past five years.

Mr Wisdom Amenyo, the Chairman of the group disclosed to the media that, they had a meeting with the management of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council together with the then Deputy Volta Regional Minister Mr Johnson Avuletey, Mr Prosper Pi-Bansah the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Peter Thompson MDC of the assembly and other directors to make headway.

He said nothing positive has resulted after the meeting though the authorities agreed for the union to operate at the Nforjor lorry park at Ho.

He also told ModernGhana News that some group of transport operators brutalized their members in an attempt to operate at Nforjor lorry station last year which was assigned to them.

Mr Amenyo stated that the matter was reported to Volta regional police command but no arrest was made.

Mr Daniel Asase-Gardiner, the Secretary to the group also told the media that, they have all evidence to show their registration codes, certificates, Tax identification numbers (TIN), dates of payment and many other documents that clearly show that, they paid all necessary dues to the Ho Municipal Assembly.

"We have nowhere to operate as drivers though we duly paid to work at the Ho main lorry station," he stated.

Mr Asase-Gardiner disclosed that, due to the challenges of not having a place to operate their group members have nothing else doing than to ground all their vehicles.

They alleged that some other groups are conniving with some heads of institutions and departments to deny them their rightful place.

Other members of three transportation groups such as Mr Maxwell A.K Kumah, the vice-chairman Mr Sitsofe Kofi Norgbey, the treasure Mr Dzifa Ahianor, the station master Mr Kafaba Muntari a member and others are now appealing to the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Yao Archibald Letsa to intervene.

They are calling on the Ho Municipality Assembly headed by Mr Prosper pi-Bansah and the entire management of the assembly to come to their aid.

Meanwhile, all efforts by ModernGhana News to speak to the heads of Ho municipal assembly have proven negative but information gathered reveal that, the assembly is working hard to address the issues as quickly as possible.
