The Diaspora Patriots in Ghana (DPG) Foundation has congratulated the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for earning the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Education Leadership (Honoris Causa).

The Foundation in a statement issued in Accra expressed optimism for more laurels for the President as he continues to show quality leadership and implement good policies and programmes.

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) awarded President Akufo-Addo with the honorary degree, which is the highest honour given by the University.

It was in recognition of the President’s immense contribution to education in the country, especially with the introduction of the free Senior High School education policy.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the second President of Ghana after former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and the 40th outstanding personality to receive the honorary degree from the University of Cape Coast.

The Diaspora Patriots in Ghana Foundation commended the authorities of UCC for honouring the President.

"Ghana is indeed fortunate to have such a bold, competent and visionary leader at such a challenging time, to not only shepherd our nation and its economy through this once-in-a-generation pandemic, which cost us about GHS 25 billion in 2020 alone, but to lay the foundation for unprecedented exponential growth and development".

According to the members of the Foundation, apart from President Akufo-Addo's transformational leadership in education, they could see much clarity in his achievements in respect of industrialization, digitalization, roads, financial sector reforms, the handling of COVID-19, war against galamsey, international affairs and peace promotion among others. "These feats constitute a fantastic legacy worth protecting and celebrating."

The Diaspora Patriots in Ghana therefore, urged all Ghanaians to persevere through the prevailing hardships fuelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

They also encouraged Ghanaians to support the government of Nana Akufo-Addo to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and usher in the requisite economic growth for an enhanced living standard.
