Looking for work in Ghana is a daunting task because job creation to tackle the high unemployment problem remains one of the biggest challenges to successive Ghanaian leaders and in a country that is never planned for the unemployed to receive social assistance, the situation is unbearable.

In many cases, an unemployed Ghanaian’s application can be refused, either he has no money to pay a bribe or has no family ties with the employer. Corruption in Ghana is so severe to the extent that if you don’t grease the palm of the employer, you can be denied a job.

Being unemployed can happen to many people but if it becomes long-term unemployment, it can have an impact on the mental and physical well-being of the job-seeker, especially, after countless attempts to find work.

Tackling the youth unemployment crisis should be a top priority in Ghana but how can the government solve that problem? A politician who cares about the concerns of his fellow citizens, as well as his career, must find ways to keep both inflation and unemployment to a minimum.

In a country like Ghana, whereby many people are looking for a job, the government should have applied certain methods to reduce the unemployment rate, for example, reducing taxation for private companies to get the opportunity to give employment to the few people they can but that’s not the situation in Ghana.

Money remitted to Ghana by those living outside the country plays a major role in sustaining the economy of the country, however, many Ghanaians in the Diaspora aren’t interested to invest or set businesses in Ghana, firstly, due to excessive taxation, secondly, insecurity and thirdly, corruption.

In a country with a very weak judiciary system that nobody takes responsibility for anything going wrong, that bad governance acts as a repulsive magnet, discouraging investments.

Only a few developed countries take interest in African leaders, that’s when they want something, yet whatever business they propose benefits them more than Africans.

In order to reduce unemployment, the Ghanaian government has various methods to choose, related to the development to control the unemployed population.

Active methods are aimed at creating additional jobs, organizing the education system, industrial and technical training of personnel in accordance with the requirements of the modern economy; regulation of sectoral, regional mobility of personnel, creation of jobs for young people, and subsidies for the employment of people in need of social protection.

The creation of a social insurance system and material assistance to the unemployed is very crucial in Ghana. The social insurance system provides for the payment of unemployment benefits, taking into account previous earnings.

But the biggest problem in Ghana is many graduates have never got the opportunity to work in the country, however, since it's not their fault to sit home without work, the government must find a way to help them.

Considering the issue of state regulation of unemployment, it is necessary for the Ghanaian government to determine which types of policies directly affect the level of unemployment in the country, based on state policy, macroeconomic, and employment policy.

The creation of conditions for the growth of demand for goods is very important since the demand in the labor market is derivative and depends on the situation in the markets for goods and services.

Employment will increase and unemployment will fall if product markets present more demand and additional workers needed to be employed or hired to satisfy it.

The ways to increase demand are: stimulating the growth of exports, regulating the rates of customs duties and tariffs, preferential taxation.

The support and encouragement of investments in the reconstruction of enterprises, and concessional lending, for example, the National Agricultural Development Projects in Ghana, will also yield positive results.
