The One Statement That Raised Nation Builders

The One Statement That Raised Nation Builders
27.05.2021 LISTEN

One day, Mr. Haruna was invited by his alma mater, the only Senior High School in Goka, to share his experiences with the student body, and to counsel them the need to double their efforts to reach higher of the academic ladder.

A teacher by profession now, and one of the brilliant students of his time at the school, Mr. Haruna was tasked by the school authorities and the Students' Representative Council (SRC) to use novel means that'll energise the students present revisit the days where the school recorded enviable successes in the West Africa Examination Council's final exams, when he was part of that legendary batch.

As one coming from a humble beginning, and knew from his early days that his future successes was hinged on what he studied at the school, and indeed it paid off in the end, Mr. Haruna used few minutes to deliver his speech. And as the saying goes: _"good advice is not delivered in thousand words",_ that speech turned out to be the rallying clarion call that will in the future see students from the school rubbing shoulders with their counterparts from schools in the capital city for leadership positions in the Republic.

What did the speaker do exceptionally that caused this magic wand?

He brought his mobile phone from his pocket, and showed the students in turn a picture that spoke more than million words.

_'A Benz car is driven through the rain carrying the president of a certain state, and men in suits, (apparently, bodyguards), were escorting the vehicle and were being beaten by the heavy rains'._

And accompanying this picture was a statement: _"Someone's father is in the Benz, someone's father is in the rain, if you like sleep"._

After the students saw the picture, the auditorium turned a cemetery silence. The word was sunk.

And without much ado, Mr. Haruna ended his speech, and got down the platform walking towards his waiting car.

The students flanked him all the way out as he bid them goodbye. And as given a gist of earlier in this story, that terse speech gave birth to generation of politicians that the Goka School produced for mother Ghana, Africa, and the world. The students married their books and gave birth to success.

Indeed, the successes of others acts as catalysts in good observers, and when they walk the good path, their better stars will in the future shine brighter.

Brethren, it may not be only academics, but whatever height you set your eyes on, don't sleep, work harder, and it'll be within your reach with relentless effort. Since there's always a light at the end of every tunnel, so happiness follows good labour always.
