Wereko-Brobby mocks Akufo-Addo, 'he went to France, Belgium To 'beg' for aid'
20.05.2021 LISTEN

Founding member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Chief Executive Officer of Volta River Authority, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby claims President Akufo Addo's visit to two European countries; France and Belgium is nothing but to seek economic aid.

President Akufo-Addo was in France yesterday, May 18, 2021 to attend a summit hosted by the French President, Emmanuel Macron. The submit was held to discuss post-COVID-19 economic recovery for African countries.

But Dr. Wereko-Brobby said President Akufo-Addo, whom he described as a "visionary" leader is championing the Ghana Beyond Aid' agenda was in Paris soliciting for economic aid.

Dr. Brobby's comment seems to be justified as Ghana secures a €170 million facility from the European Investment Bank for the establishment of a development bank in Africa or for any developmental projects on the African continent.

The agreement was reached during President Akufo-Addo's visit to Belgium where he met and discussed with President of the European Investment Bank, Dr. Werner Hoyer on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
