13.05.2021 LISTEN

The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Mr. Kofi Asare has said no mentally stable persons will justify the assault that was visited on Citi TV/ FM journalist, Caleb Kudah when he was arrested and detained by the National Security operatives.

Caleb Kudah was said to have filmed at the premises of the National Security Secretariat on Tuesday.

According to him, journalists risk their lives to pursue what is in the interest of the general public and therefore, it will be insane for anyone to justify attacks or assaults on them.

"I mean, journalists put their lives at risk by doing what some are afraid to do: exposing corruption and demanding accountability in a democracy.

Which sane person would attack or justify assaults on a journalist, no matter how irresponsible they were in pursuit of the Public Interest?" Mr. Asare wrote in a facebook post sighted.

You like CNN, BBC etc.. you may not like Joy FM, CITI, or TV3 because they expose corruption and demand accountability from governments.

Whether local or international, the news you enjoy is brewed by Journalists, under very unfriendly and perilous environments just to pursue probity and accountability in the Public’s Interest.

I mean, journalists put their lives at risk by doing what some are afraid to do: exposing corruption and demanding accountability in a democracy.

Which sane person would attack or justify assaults on a journalist, no matter how irresponsible they were in pursuit of the Public Interest?

May the keeper of the gate of wisdom let us in now!
