MESTI Minister begins 6-day working tour of northern Ghana

The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI), Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, has begun a 6-day working visit to the Northern sector of Ghana.

The working visit which he started on the 18th April 2021 will end on 22nd April, 2021.

As part of the tour, the Minister will commission completed interventions under the Sustainable Land and Water Management Project (SLWMP) as well as pay a familiarization visit to CSIR-SARI where he is expected to inspect some laboratories.

Some of the interventions to be commissioned include Gari Processing Facilities, Water Systems, Mini-Industrial Shea Processing Facilities, Dugouts and Solar Powered Mechanical Boreholes and Watery Systems.

The Minister will be accompanied by the Chief Director, Mrs Cynthia Asare Bediako, the Director PPME, Mrs Lydia Essuah and other officials of the Ministry.

The USD 29.6 million World Bank funded Project is designed to promote improved sustainable land and water management practices through reduction of land degradation and enhancement of biodiversity in selected micro-watersheds area in northern Ghana.
