Over 90 buildings had their roofs ripped off by a recent rainstorm in Damongo in the Savannah Region.

Officers of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the West Gonja municipality after inventory on the disaster told the media on Sunday that, Tuesday’s disaster affected some 750 people.

The West Gonja Municipality Director of NADMO, Mr. Bavug Adams said the 95 buildings affected included homes, shops and some school infrastructure.

“We recorded 750 people who were affected, 110 of them were male adults, 250 children and the remaining are women adults and three people sustained minor injuries.”

Mr. Bavug Adams said NADMO is yet to take delivery of relief items for the victims.

“We have to compile the report to the region for onward submission to the national level for them to assess the situation and decide what package or support the people will need and send to us. So we have done that and waiting, but I can’t tell exactly when we will receive the support but I’m sure it will come in due time.”

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor has visited the affected homes.
