Director of Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC) in Accra and Security Expert, Prof. Kwesi Aning has said cases of armed robbery and murder in the country will continue to rise.

According to him, the numerous armed robbery and murders cases in the country are a result of government's failure to tackle the crimes with enough "boldness".

"So, Francis, unfortunately, we are going to see considerably more of these unfortunate cases except we have the boldness to tackle it from the root...," Prof. Aning stated whiles speaking to GhOne TV's Francis Abban on the 'State of Affairs' program on April 15, 2021 monitored by this portal.

Prof. Aning also attributed the increasing crimes in the country to lack of enough resources for the security services to discharged their duties effectively. He believes government is not investing enough in the security sector.

"...we are not investing enough in our security forces, particularly the Ghana Police Service which is the frontline agency in terms of logistics, in terms of manpower, in terms of training to be able to respond adequately to the changing demographics and the changing urban spaces... ," he revealed.
