Central Regional Minister Marigold vows to deal with Open Defecation

The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan has lauded His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for seeking to transform the region through her saying she is posed to ensure Open Defecation Free in the Region.

"I have accepted the offer and will do everything within my power to ensure total development of Central Region. I won't disappoint President Akufo Addo led NPP Government and will discharge my duties diligently".

The Central Regional Minister stated these at a Thanksgiving Service organized by the Swedru Circuit of the Methodist Church at the Emmanuel Society at Agona Swedru to honour her appointment.

The well organized service attracted high profile Personalities including the Central Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Robert Kutin Jnr, Bishop of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Bishop Grant Essilifie, Nananom, Member of Parliament for Agona West, Hon. Mrs. Cynthia Mamle Morrison, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Hon. Naana Eyiah, MMDCEs, Regional and Constituency Executives of the NPP, Old Students from Swedru Senior High School, Heads of Decentralized Department in the Region and leaders of the other political parties.

In an interview with newsmen, Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan disclosed that her priority was to ensure Open Defecation Free (OPF) in everything Community to curb the spread of environmental related diseases.

According to the Regional Minister, Heads of the Environmental Health Department have been tasked to make sure every household has toilet facilities for the occupants.

She expressed concern about the rather low household toilet facilities in the Central Region noting it doesn't befit a Region that has high tourist attractions.

" Am posed to ensure that over 70% of households provide toilet facility for occupants thereby eradicating open defecation"

Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan noted that she would ensure Serene environment to boost environmental health adding a healthy people makes a wealthy nation.

" Let all come together to make Central Region great and strong for United we stand.

The former Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Rt. Rev. Joseph Ato Brown tasked the Regional Minister to serve the people in her Region and Ghana as a whole in humility.

"Be humble in whatever you do. Serve with humility. Remember our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ served in humility even into his death".
