The Electoral Area Coordinators and Polling Station Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have described the group calling itself THE CONCERN NORTHERN GRASSROOT OF NPP as “fake.”

They claim their checks and investigations has revealed that the group is unknown to the party at all levels of its structures in the region and urges the general public to disregard any media reports and press conferences making round that the Majority Leader Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu should resign over his Non-Akan flagbearer comment.

Speaking at a press conference held in Tamale yesterday the convener Mr Alhassan Inusah said the Concern Northern Grassroot of the NPP is unfit to attack and disrespect a party stateman and a representative of the Parliament Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu adding that no NPP faithful or structure would be calling for any Member of Parliament to resign to give an advantage to the NDC.

According to him, the group was doing so to paint Majority Leader black and create ethnic conflict between him and other Akan counterparts in the party.

“It is a well-known fact that Hon Kyei Mensah Bonsu is an Akan from the Ashanti region, were he to be selfish in his considerations, he would’ve been the first to advocate for another Akan leadership, believing he could be a beneficiary of same but as selfless and political realities as he is, he has made the most logical argument any sane member of the NPP will come up with,” he noted.

Mr. Inusah also urged the general public to ignore the numerous false claims about Hon Kyei Mensah Bonsu pursuing a Vice Presidential slot in the near 2024 general elections with his recommendation of a non-Akan flagbearer.

“We will like to call on Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and the general public to treat the statement of the group with deserving contempt,” he added.
