Easter is a festival of sacrifice. Easter depicts the sacrifice by both Jehovah and Jesus Christ. Jehovah agreed to sacrifice his son, Jesus Christ for the sake of the salvation of humanity, and Jesus Christ accepted to sacrifice himself for the sake of the salvation of humanity.

George Alfred Grant well known as Paa Grant was a huge Merchant in Gold Coast. For his love of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) which was formed in 1947, mother of NPP, he sacrificed his businesses for the development of the Party, he considered the interest of the UGCC over his business interests. Paa Grant was christened as the Father of Gold Coast Politics.
Okyeame Baffour Osei Akoto in 1954 sacrificed his belongingness to the Convention People Party (CPP), separated from the CPP to form the National Liberation Movement (NLM) and through that weakened the CPP. NLM was the largest political party after the 1956 General elections, with respect to the number of votes cast. He also sacrificed and gave up the leadership of the tradition of the Party to Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah and Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia for the 1960 and 1969 General elections respectively. Dr. J. B Danquah was a close ally of Okyeame Baffour Akoto whom he fought side by side against the socialist and authoritarian rule of Kwame Nkrumah. Out of Okyeame Baffour Akoto’s sacrifice for NLM through his persistent resistance of the autocratic rule of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, he further landed himself in Prison for seven years. Okyeame Baffour Akoto was noted as the one who brought Asantes into mainstream and modern politics. He was a Chief Linguist to the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.

Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah continuously sacrificed and stood up against Kwame Nkrumah for the survival of the United Party (UP) Tradition despite his knowledge of a would-be detention. This persistent sacrifice led to his death while in detention at the Nsawam Medium Prison in 1965. Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah was christened as the Doyen of Gold Coast politics.
Further more, during the formation of the United Party (UP) in 1957, despite the Northern People’s Party (NPP) headed by Simon Diedong Dombo was the largest political party after the 1956 General elections, with respect to the number of seats representation in the legislative assembly, among the political parties which came together for the formation, he still sacrificed his leadership role for Dr. J.B Danquah and Dr. Abrefa Busia during the 1960 and 1969 General elections respectively. Simon Diedong Dombo was the traditional chief of Duori in the Upper Region. The Northern People’s Party (NPP) was formed in 1954.

After the tremendous 2016 General elections victory chalked by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the thirst and zeal by the cross board of the Party members at all levels to continuously sacrifice for the Party eventually started dwindling at a very fast pace which eventually led to very bad election results in the history of the Party under the Fourth (4th) Republic during the 2020 General elections.

It has as a result become necessary for the entire members of the NPP; both the top and down to push aside their respective interests and well-being, and just as the forefathers and torchbearers of the Party’s tradition, should consider the general interest and development of the Party, sacrifice their all for it and through that get the Party to achieve in 2024 the never had been attained by any political party under the 4th Republic.
