Techiman Municipal Assembly supports GES with over 1000 dual desk to improve Teaching and learning

The Techiman Municipal Assembly has presented over 1000 dual desk to the Techiman Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service to help to promote quality teaching and learning in the area.

Over 1000 dual desk were presented to the directorate at the weekend in Techiman the Regional capital of the Bono East region to augment the existing furniture, this would in addition feed schools in the municipality and environs that were in acute need of educational furniture such as desk for pupils to sit on to learn.

Mr John Kofi Doyina Municipal Chief Executive to the area presenting the furniture commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for his role in the strengthening of the country's educational systems, stating that the president's social empowerment policies were the reasons why the country's human resource has been developed and empowered to deliver.

Mr Doyina indicated that the president educational policies such as the free and compulsory schooling for all school going age children has gone along way in reducing poverty and empowered the citizenry to self-Reliant in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country among other things.

Mr Doyina mentioned that considering education as the bedrock for National development in the country, the Assembly has constructed additional educational infrastructure including 12 to 6unit class room blocks across the municipality and this he said was geared at improving the delivery of quality education in the area to produce the needed human resources for the area and the country at large.

Again he indicated that this would absorb the high enrollment in schools in the municipality to create sanity and discipline among pupils and teachers during teaching and learning as it is a key tool in addressing some of the Covid-19 protocols among other things.

He urged the directorate to distribute the desk to the needed schools so as to serve their intended purpose.

Mr John Kodwo Amessah, Municipal Director of Education, Techiman received the furniture and said it has come at the right time where some schools were in need and that this would help solve the inadequate furniture problems in schools.

Mr Amessah noted that his office would ensure all schools practice the maintenance culture to preserve the future of the items, in addition he would work to improve on the monitoring and supervision in schools as that was the right measure to improve teaching and learning in schools across the municipality.

Miss Doris Sarpong and Master Sherif Ahmed second year students at the Ameyaw Municipal Assembly Junior High school commended the assembly for the support and said this would motivate and encourage them to learn with comfort in the class room, again it would be the reason why they would like to attend and stay in school to learn.
