Election 2020 field operatives to be paid April 30 — EC assures

The Electoral Commission (EC) has said its unpaid field operatives for the 2020 polls will receive their allowance by April 30, 2021.

This assurance comes after agitations and disquiet expressed by the said operatives over delayed payment after the 2020 polls.

But in a statement issued by the Commission on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, expressed regret over the "delay in effecting payments and assures all Field Operatives that arrangements are being made to ensure the timely release of funds".

The Commission said it's working with the Finance Ministry to ensure that they are paid by the end of the month.

The statement expressed gratitude to the operatives for abiding by the values of the commission during the polls.
