The Energy Commission as part of its mandate to provide a legal and supervisory framework for actors in the energy sector is introducing electrical inspectors across the country to serve as a monitoring vehicle for the work output of electrical engineers devoid of accidental occurrence.

A short ceremony held at the office of VRA/NEDCO in Akumadan, Capital of Offinso North last week was unveiling of Ibrahim Sheriff, CEO of Peace and Unity Electricals as Offinso north and south inspector of the commission’s certified electricians in their line of work particularly electrical wirings henceforth.

Addressing participants, Ign, Archimey Kwaako Gyimmah Energy commission Representative for Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions admonished the electricians to accord Mr. Sheriff with respect and support for their own good as the commission would not condone a violator of its directives, adding the inspector’s role in their work is to give more credibility to their service and ensuring prevention of any fire outbreak as a result of faulty wiring done by uncertified electricians.

Electricians must ensure their certification with the commission before engaging in any wiring deals with landlords. According to Mr. Gyimah, offenders of this directive both electricians and house owners when reported by the inspector would be punished severely by law.

“I urge every electrician to get himself certified before they can now work, and all house owners to always ensure they engage the services of certified electricians or have themselves to blame when caught using uncertified electricians for wirings”

“From now onwards, we have gotten an inspector in Offinso North, every electrical wiring must now be done by a certified electrical wiring professional who should also invite inspector to check on the perfection of the job done in order to prevent any future fire outbreaks, so people must look for energy commission certified electricians to work for them” Mr. Gyimah who is also an inspector admonished to CruzNews.
