Free Services And Taxes: Benefit Or A Disadvantage To The People
A government gives you free services and later bring you a bill in a form of taxes, to pay for the free services you enjoyed. Is the Government being dishonest?
Giving freebies is a smart poverty intervention initiative but not sustainable in the long run when it’s not backed by any structured economic plan to accommodate it.
I recommend that anytime Government announces a free social intervention initiative, it must tell Ghanaians the accompanying economic recovery plan for such initiatives. This I believe will save the people form any surprise tax imposition.
