CPP Youth Organiser calls for closure of Australian High Commission office over LGBTQI endorsement

CPP Youth Organiser calls for closure of Australian High Commission office over LGBTQI endorsement

The National Youth Organizer for Convention People's Party (CPP) Kofi Osei Acquah has condemned the Australian High Commissioner H.E Gregory Andrews for allegedly promoting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) in Ghana.

The party wants the Australian High Commission office in Ghana closed down immediately whilst government expedites actions to expatriate the Commissioner for allegedly endorsing and pushing LGBT which Ghana’s law, culture and religion frown on.

Speaking in an interview on Yen Sempa morning show on Onua FM on Friday February 26, Kofi Osei described steps taken by the government so far against LGBT practices as halfhearted and indolent.

He is livid at the lackadaisical attitude of government and demanded the Minister of Foreign Affairs designate Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey to officially write to the Australian government to recall H.E Gregory Andrews for his actions in endorsing LGBT.

He reiterated that LGBT is not part of Ghana’s societal norms and no individual or foreign entity would be allowed to promote it in the country.

According to him, promoting LGBTQI is not part of the bilateral agreement between Ghana and Australian.

He also explained that the High Commissioner is here in Ghana to advance Australia’s political and economic agenda of common interest, including development, trade, investment, peace and security.

But the CPP youth organizer is of the view that the Australian High Commissioner has gone overboard and has deviated from the bilateral relation between Ghana and the country he represents and therefore doesn’t deserve to continue his stay in the country.

Kofi Osei chided the Foreign Affairs Minister designate for failing to take action to expel the diplomat a day after he endorsed LGBT.

He stressed that CPP is against homosexuality, lesbianism and all forms of LGBT and would do everything possible to mobilize the youth to kick against the practice or its legalization in Ghana.
