There have been a lot of agitations here and thereafter the declaration of the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary election results. Series of demonstrations have been organised by the NDC to showcase how Fraudulent, flawed, and unconstitutionality of the declarations made severally by the Chairperson of the EC.

The witness for the Electoral Commission (EC) in the 2020 presidential election petition (EC), Mrs. Jean Mensa, who is also the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, will not give any evidence, lawyers for the EC have indicated to the Supreme Court.

The announcement by the lead counsel for the EC, Mr. Justin Amenuvor came as a surprise to many Ghanaians.

After the cross-examination of Mr. Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, the third witness for the petitioner, Mr. John Dramani Mahama on Monday [February 8, 2021] his lead counsel, indicated to the court that the petitioner has closed his case.

It was expected that the first respondent (EC), would have put a witness in the person of Mrs. Jean Mensa in the box for her evidence-in-chief to be followed by cross-examination, however, Lead counsel for the EC, Mr. Justin Amenuvor, told the apex court that his client, has decided not to adduce any evidence and therefore the court should decide the petition filed by former President John Dramani Mahama on its merit.

The EC boss has come under intense criticisms following her declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of the December 7 polls.

While many accuse her of conniving with the ruling government to rig the election in favour of the sitting president, others also have asked the EC to step aside for organizing opaque Collation of the December 7th General Election for her rigging agenda to be persuaded.

The Vibrant National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), H.E Alhaji Said Sinare, and Some Meaningful Ghanaians have through various statements on their Social Media handles condemned what they say is the wrong, flawed, and fraudulent 2020 presidential election results declared by Mrs. Jean Mensa and must at all cost Mount the Witness Box after filling her witness statement for interrogation by the petitioners' Counsel.
