Politics 2020 Election Petition: Jean Mensa will find it difficult to explain, defend her figures — Former Deputy Minister
JAN 15, 2021 LISTEN

Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sport in the erstwhile Mahama's administration, Hon. Joseph Yammin has predicted that the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa will not have it easy explaining how she arrived at her figures in court.

"Jean Mensa will be in the witness box and trust me she's going to find it very difficult explaining figures that gave birth to the percentages that declared Nana Addo winner...," Yammin said in a Facebook post.

The former deputy minister further alleged that the figures the EC churned out were not from the commission but from the national collation center of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This, according to Yammin is the reason why Jean Mensa would not be able to justify her figures when she enter the witness box at the Supreme Court.

"...simply because it was calculated at the NPP Headquarters for her to declare," he alleged.

It has been widely reported in the media that the Jean Mensa-led EC made about six corrections to the figures used to declare Akufo-Addo winner of the 2020 polls.

According to reports, the percentage used by the EC to declare victory for Akufo Addo is incorrect per EC's own severally alleged corrected figures.

The errors in the percentage is one of the basis for John Mahama's election petition which is currently before the Supreme Court.
