Opinion The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer: Bring back our abled leaders of TESCON in the Ashanti region
JAN 15, 2021 LISTEN

It has been a great honour to come out victorious after going through thick and thin and putting up great effort to raise the flag of victory.

We should maintain such unity to transform and grow as a people, taking into consideration the contributions of patriotic members of the party.

It is for this necessity that reasons for being against certain decisions of the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser are spelled out. The purported list of appointed executives have no evidence which depicts whether they have passed the litmus test in rendering their absolute commitment to the association and the NPP fraternity in general.

Appointments of Tescon Executive Members have been done solely for parochial interests, without consultation of the Regional executives and Tescon executives which is a clear indication of autocracy when we follow a democratic system.

This is a classical repetition of the same act which happened in the year 2018, and caused a lot of brouhahas only to be rectified by the Ashanti Regional Minister.

Executives who are still in school have had their names eliminated, an action which will undermine their potential to serve the association and the NPP fraternity. Reg. 9(1)(L) of the Tescon constitution states "the tenure of office of Executive Committee Members shall be one academic year after which the executive may seek re-election in accordance with this regulation". This spells out clearly that the elimination of names of such Executives for new ones is an imposition on the members and a threat to democracy.

The Executives who are very industrious and committed without any form of inducement with their sincere term of service have been taken out of office. These Executives have helped in diverse ways to bring the youth of the party together as one people. In the just-ended Presidential and Parliamentary elections, many seats were lost due to negligence of the people's choice. This has affected the party in the long run and it shouldn't be repeated.

We should also get enlightened on the fact that Executives are elected so they should be voted out of the office where the general assembly passes "a vote of no confidence."

Truly, the choice of the people has to be the priority of the leaders as every good leader needs to inspire, radiate love, exhibit goodwill and lead the way to transform followers and impact them positively. Leadership should be exhibited through exemplary lives; therefore, a good leader should not focus on his egocentric interests and obtrude decisions on followers.

I, therefore, urge the leadership to come to a consensus to make such impactful decisions in order not to resort to higgledy-piggledy. The objectives of the party should be our hallmark because we seek to develop in freedom. We should therefore avoid any improvident acts that will affect the cohesion of the members.

Our humble relieves we seek:

1. elections were held in this country with strict adherence to the covid-19 protocol. We pray on your august outfit the same is done in our various TESCON institutions when school hopefully reopens with strict adherence to the covid-19 protocols and the TESCON constitution.

2. Consultations must be done with the relevant stakeholders to appoint competent people to be in the helm of affairs in the various TESCON institutions if that is the way to go.
