The Electoral Commission (EC) in the Northern Region says all is set for the special voting slated for Tuesday, December 1 ahead of the general elections.

Some 6,349 voters are expected to vote in eighteen constituencies of the Northern Region.

These include security personnel, election officials, Journalists, and some others whose duties will not allow them to vote on December 7.

In an interview with Citi News, the Regional EC Director, Lucas Yiryel stated that they have made preparations and are ready to conduct the special voting tomorrow.

“We have finished the training of our officials, we have received the materials that are to be used for the election, and everything is done in terms of the register, the BVDs and training is already completed as I mentioned.”

“So, we are psychologically and morally prepared for the election tomorrow. We have 18 constituencies and each constituency has one centre, so we have 18 centres tomorrow,” he added.

109,577 persons to take part in special voting on Tuesday

A total of 109,577 voters from 12 institutions are expected to cast their ballots nationwide on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, ahead of the December 7 general elections.

These are people with special election day assignments.

The special voting exercise would take place at 311 Electoral Commission (EC) designated voting centers located in all the 275 constituencies.

The exercise will start at 0700hours and close at 1700 hours.
