Martin Amidu: The Lawyer Who Sees Corruption Through Divinity

We got up from our beds today to welcome another but the longest epistle from Martin Amidu responding to the President rejoinder to his earliest write up upon his resignation. Mr. Amidu is trying his very best to impute sins to the presidency saying that the president is “… really the mother corruption serpent under the innocent-looking flower”. Reading through his long write up, one cannot fathom the head and tail of what he wants his readers to know. He is all over repeating Agyapa, Agyapa and other matters of little importance, trying hard also to defend certain claims in the president’s response to his resignation letter.

Unfortunately, he was not smart enough. A lawyer of his caliber should know better. When the president has faithfully appointed you to serve as the first prosecutor, the only way he thinks he can pay him back is to try hard to tag the president with corruption. According to Martin Amidu, the ‘mother corruption serpent’ was divinely revealed to him by the Holy Trinity. Amidu claimed he received the shock of his life when the president demanded that he take no further action on the Agyapa Royalties for another week. It was at this point ‘it was divinely revealed to him’ that something is wrong. All this while he served as a special prosecutor, it took divine intervention for Amidu to see the action of the president as corrupt according to him. The logic Mr. Amidu is inviting us to interrogate is that the mere fact that the president asked him to hold on with the report for a week simply means the President is the mother corruption serpent through the influence of divinity. This is so illogical, incongruous and absurd in the highest capacity.

“When I met the President on 23^rdOctober, 2020, I received the shock of my life when de demanded that I took no further action on the Agyapa Royalties transaction anti-corruption assessment report for another week. That was when “it was divinely revealed to me” that the President whom I trusted so much for integrity only looked like the innocent flower of anti-corruption but he was really the mother corruption serpent under the innocent-looking flower”

Now everything is becoming increasingly clear that Mr. Martin Amidu is trying to wash too much of his dirty linen in public. I think we have glorified this so-called corruption fighter and given him so much room to operate. He has bad temperament and self-willed and he thinks he can use his personal issues of frustration to tag the president. So now fighting corruption is not the matter of evidence, facts and findings but rather divine revelation. It took the Holy Trinity and Holy Spirit to enable Mr. Amidu perceived corruption and unfortunately tagged the president. I think a very wide range of Ghanaians are awake and for this time round, Mr Amidu got it wrong as he sometimes gets it wrong in court. Martin had it wrong and this so-called epistle of his further concluded people’s perception that he might be having acute mental problems or certain unstableness. We will advise Martin to take his drugs and stay out of public life for a while and leave the NPP and Nana Addo to serve the country.
