The Electoral Commission (EC) is this afternoon holding a crucial Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on the December 7 elections which is 11 days away.

Though the Commission is done with the printing and distribution of all election materials across the country, concerns still remain with names of registered voters missing from the register.

The meeting is also expected to address issues of voter verification on the election day, and the Commission’s result declaration timelines.

The Electoral Commission is expected to come to a consensus with the political parties on these and other issues on the agenda for this meeting.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had earlier accused the EC of excluding critical stakeholders from its decision-making processes.

The Director of Election of the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah cited a 2019 US Human Rights Report by the US State Department, alluded that the report vindicates their position on the Jean Mensa administration's bias towards the governing NPP.

“The June 2018 ouster of the Electoral Commission chairperson and the President's subsequent filling of the EC with persons considered to be biased in favour of the ruling party raised questions about whether the body might be used to stifle voter registration in areas of opposition support,” the US said in its 2019 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices.
