W/R NDC Exposes Akufo-Addo 'Lies', 'Takoradi PTC Interchange Project Not Commenced'

NDC WR NDC Exposes Akufo-Addo 'Lies', 'Takoradi PTC Interchange Project Not Commenced'
NOV 26, 2020 LISTEN

The Western Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) has disputed claims by President Akufo-Addo that the Takoradi PTC interchange is on course.

While commissioning phase one of the Obetsebi interchange on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, President Akufo-Addo, said the conversion of the Takoradi PTC roundabout into an interchange is “progressing steadily”.

But according to the NDC, work has not even commenced.

The Western Regional NDC Communication Officer, Richard Kirk Mensah, who addressed the press at the PTC Roundabout in Takoradi, took on President Akufo-Addo accusing him of peddling untruths.

“We of the NDC have taken it upon ourselves to bring you [journalists] all here to tour the various sites. Check and tell the whole world that Ghana’s President is a big liar thereby moving around the country deceiving Ghanaians to vote for him again.”

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, on 15th September 2020 cut the sod for the three-tier interchange at Kwame Nkrumah roundabout, which is part of the Sinohydro projects.

But the NDC in the region said, two months after the sod cutting, no work has begun at the site except for the sand that was transported to the place for the sod-cutting ceremony.

“We were here when they came to do the sod-cutting. So we are waiting, but we are also asking the government exactly when the construction of the interchange will commence. This is because we are very close to the election, and we don't know whether they will do it before or after we have voted? It is Bawumia who did the sod cutting for the interchange, but we don't know when the work will start,” Elliot Fynn Baidoo, a resident of Takoradi told Citi News.

The Western Regional NDC led by its Communications Officer, Richard Kirk Mensah also took the press to the site for the Shama District Hospital where President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the commencement of the project some three months ago.

He said that project has also not commenced.

“At this juncture, we will encourage every Ghanaian especially Christians, Muslims and our traditional believers for whom truth is the backbone of their respective respected religions to be bold and vote against President Nana Akufo-Addo and his NPP government because they have never been truthful to Ghanaians especially the people of the Western Region.”
