Yes, Martin Amidu Is A Failure As SP, Losing His Credibility

Yes,Martin Amidu Is A Failure As SP, Losing His Credibility
17.11.2020 LISTEN

In my native Goka, we say: "sɛ ɛkɔm de aberewa a ɔpere aduane ma ne nanaanom."

Which is loosely translated as " when the Grandmother is hungry, she requests food for her grandchildren".

Yes, the old woman is intelligent, and wouldn't want to be seen complaining of hunger, so when the grandchildren are served food, she'll elect herself to feed them, and as he who grinds the stew tastes it, then the Granny will eat also.

Martin Amidu, the citizen vigilante of old, has come out again with a long epistle. This time it's not about him being a foolhardy John Booth fighting the wind, removing the supposed shrouds of corruption that he claimed John Mahama and his NDC government are clad in.

It's not his lengthy signature epistles peppered with what cause the citizens to angst and call for a long rope to either hang John Mahama or bind and throw Alfred Wayome into the deepest-sea of the gulf. It's rather a terse epistle, soaked with tears, that he penned yesterday, 16th November 2020, to announce his resignation as President Akuffo Addo's appointed Special Prosecutor (SP).

His tears were not for the worries and the baggage of lost credibility he's leaving the office he served just over two years, failing the country miserably. His tears were to douse his own heated heart for not being paid his "promised emoluments."

Prior to coming into office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) government, Martin Amidu sounded this sanctimonious tone against the corruptibility of the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, (a government he'd served in as a minister before), that he was the only seemingly qualified candidate for that novel office - Special Prosecutor.

And indeed, all patriots who wish Ghana loses the unenvious accolade as having "corruption as our second name", applauded and endorsed massively his appointment.

Though we're not complaining much, knowing very well he's losing his voice since his appointment; as the country drape in red and black mourning the painful demise of our former president, Jerry John Rawlings, this bitter man Martin Amidu has been heard talking, gaining back his voice somewhat. Not to add his voice to the condolences, or saying something good the former president did for Ghana, Africa, and the world.

Hiding behind his deputy, as we bereaved Ghanaians weep on empty stomachs, dining on kola nut in mournful clothes, the supposed crusader against corruption, Amidu, complains that he was only paid his one-year emoluments, and must be remunerated handsomely. He literally ordered the president to pay the deputy all emoluments due her since her appointment. Adding, the woman deputy hadn't been paid a penny since she was sworn into that office.

Imagine this. When did superiors start campaigning for their deputies to be paid whilst the bosses are not paid their own salaries by the government?

I'm starting the crusade today, Ghanaians must go after Martin Amidu to collect the one-year emoluments given him. We must know how much he was given, and we'll claim every penny.

What was his achievement to deserve that one-year emolument?

Was he able to prosecute or imprison John Mahama, going into the office with those corruption claims he made about him, tarnishing his image, causing him his electoral fortunes in the 2016 polls?

Or he thought it that the NPP gave him that appointment to fight them on the Agyapa Royalties deals?

Who a sitting government does that?

And did I hear him say: it's because his emoluments were not paid accordingly hence his inability to prosecute members of the previous government he accused of corruption?

Then, he should tell us how much he was paid working as a private lawyer taking Alfred Wayome to court and benefitting the state to reclaim our stolen monies in dubious judgment debts paid to the businessman?

Mr. Martin Amidu, you're not a saint, after all, you've lost your credibility. A grade three student who can read and understand basic English language knows very well that you're resigning because you were not showered with the expected cash after the cavalier job that awarded you the SP office.

President Akuffo Addo should be a good man. Your resignation letter sounds to me that he'll pay who dues it. You don't. Hence he withholding the subsequent emoluments after the first year.

On that score alone, I think I should join the trending chorus and say: Four More For Nana (#4M4N).

And, Mr. Amidu, finishing it, you deserve it a hundred times the "insults" you complained of receiving in that your resignation letter.

President Mahama was charitable to you calling you "stupid" after bringing his Airbus scandal into the Agyapa Royalties deal. I would have said what will let you crash your head against the next tree near you if I was in his stead.

Bitter man.

Who a sane person will say: "Get away with your good suggestions?"

Even, the poorest amongst Ghanaians would have brought our last penny to your service if indeed you were about it collecting monies stolen from Ghana's coffers, as you did assure the Parliament vetting committee upon your appointment two years ago.

Ghanaians need our money from you. You'll vomit it out !!!!

Watch out !!!!
