I've Unfinished Business – Mahama

Politics John Mahama
OCT 22, 2020 LISTEN
John Mahama

Former President John Mahama says his reason for seeking re-election in the December 7 polls is to complete some 'unfinished businesses' when he was in office, particularly the problem of youth employment.

“When I am re-elected, my major focus would be on youth unemployment because unemployment among the youth is currently rising and when it happens like that the devil will find work for the idle hands and so the youth might engage in killings, armed robberies and likes,” he asserted.

The former president made the comments when he paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoa Sekyim II, as part of his campaign tour of the Western Region.

According to Mr. Mahama, Ghanaians could attest to the hardship in the country and the rising youth unemployment which could be a security threat to the country.

He also used the opportunity to congratulate the Omanehene on his election as the new president of the Western Regional House of Chiefs and introduced the party's parliamentary candidate for Amenfi East Constituency, Nicholas Amankwa, to the people.

His first port of call was at Agona Amenfi in the Amenfi Central Constituency where the Divisional Chief of area, Nana Kwaku Amoah II, acknowledged the numerous developmental projects the constituency enjoyed under the presidency of Mr. Mahama.

He indicated that the people of Agona Amenfi and the entire Amenfi Central would forever be grateful to the NDC government.

Nana Kwaku Amoah recounted the good relationship between the people of Amenfi Central and the NDC party and went further to mention some of the sons of the area who were in the NDC government and served the country well in various capacities.

He bemoaned what he said was the numerous abandoned projects initiated by the NDC government under the former president, particularly in the area of roads.

He assured the former president of their support and asked for more projects should the NDC win the 2020 elections.

He also appealed to the flagbearer of the NDC to create a new district out of the current Amenfi Central Municipal Assembly and name it Amenfi North District should the NDC win the December 7 polls and make Agona Amenfi the capital of the new district.
