Cry, My Beloved Ancestral Place Of Birth – Kumawuman

Feature Article Cry, My Beloved Ancestral Place Of Birth – Kumawuman
OCT 4, 2020 LISTEN

Once a powerful warrior state within the Asante Confederacy, thus, the Asante Kingdom, Kumawuman has now been reduced to a shadow of itself; a subjugated division within the Asanteman. Her sons and daughters have either become cowards or deliberate traitors, facilitating the materialisation of the collusive agenda by the so-called powerful Asante traditional overlords to exploit the resources of Kumawuman to the hilt for their selfish and insatiable greed.

Some of the so-called highly educated historians and other intellectuals from Kumawuman with most of the sub-chiefs who should know better, are unfortunately the very those aiding the external plunderers to invade Kumawuman. For fame, money and juicy promises made to them as individuals, they have yielded in to the criminal intents by the purported powerful Asante overlord and his traditional and political agents and assigns to suppress the subjects of Kumawuman to pave way for the realisation of their diabolic objective.

It is shameful to see some Kumawuman subjects intentionally, but not inadvertently, assisting outsiders to rewrite the history of Kumawuman to suit their agenda of oppressing the people to directly or indirectly rule Kumawuman exploitatively as they want. While the townships in Kumawuman are wailing for essential developments and creation of jobs for the people, the sons and daughters of Kumawuman soil turned traitors, are happily callously helping the external aggressors to successfully invade Kumawuman. These traitors are the same people who will turn around to cry wolf, saying the government of the day is not providing the townships in Kumawuman with essential developments.

Who bestowed upon Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II the right to nominate, let alone impose, a royal of his choice, on Kumawuman as their paramount chief? Where does he draw that power and traditional right from, I pause to ask? My extensive research into written and oral history of Asantes has not yet turned out any clue to Asantehene having the absolute right to decide for Kumawuman who becomes their paramount chief contrary to what the current Asantehene has done.

The imposition of the current self-styled Kumawuhene Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua on Kumawuman as their paramount chief is in total breach of standing Kumawu and Asante conventions as well as certain constitutional clauses. I stand to be challenged by whoever thinks that this assertion by me is just a figment of imagination.

As long as the Almighty God gives me life, and as long as I live, I shall continue to be the voice of the voiceless majority in Kumawuman despite the composition of, and how strong and powerful, the colluders, are.

It is obvious that most modern day Ghana politicians for reasons only best known to them may be tempted to align themselves with the conspicuously illegal cause being pursued by the Asante overlord in the ongoing Kumawu chieftaincy dispute. Nonetheless, that will not deter me from speaking the truth and taking them on regardless of the powerful security machinery at their disposal.

We should stand to defend the truth. We must stand up tall to be counted regardless of the circumstances.

Any Kumawuman citizen who wants to witness the prevalence of justice in the ongoing Kumawuman chieftaincy dispute should please solidarize with me, pray to God and begin to tell people they come into contact with the true history about Kumawu.

I want every Ghanaian of sound mind to cogitate about the two underlying quotations that keep firing me up to defend the genuine cause of those seeking justice for Kumawuman.

The fact that those of us seeking justice for Kumawuman have not gone on rampage does not mean that it is all well with us, and that we have accepted the fraudulent imposition and gazetting of Dr Yaw Sarfo as Kumawuhene. The calmness at Kumawuman should not erroneously be taken for acceptance of Dr Yaw Sarfo and all the illegalities so far perpetrated by the colluders against Kumawuman.

“Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph,” said, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia.

“First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me” -Niemöller, a German army officer in the First World War and later a politician.

My fellow public readers, how do you find the above quotations? How will you react from today forward when faced with a precarious situation as it is nearly the fate of Kumawuman? Will you not act because it does not personally affect you and your family?

We should not give evil the chance and space to thrive in our efforts for emancipation from oppression. As a citizen but not a spectator, I shall continually fight for the cause of truth in liberation of Kumawuman from evildoers.
