KOFI Ketewa, 28, a chainsaw operator, was last Sunday trapped to death at Kurofofrom, a suburb of Juabeng, when a tree allegedly being felled by his friend, named only as Frimpong, fell on him.

The felling of the trees was said to be in total disregard of numerous advice to illegal chainsaw operators in the area to desist from the practice.

Frimpong was said to have immediately informed the deceased's uncle Francis Cudjoe, and the two, assisted by another operator, Kwaku Boateng, buried the body secretly in the bush claiming that such a death was a taboo in that area.

The secret could, however, not be kept for long as the police got a hint of the incident and on Tuesday stormed the area and to arrest Frimpong and Cudjoe.

They are currently being held in police custody for negligently causing death and hindering an inquest, Kwaku Boatentg, is on the run.

Inspector Yusif Mohammed Tanko, of the Kumasi Police Public Affairs Unit speaking to the Times yesterday, said the suspects admitted to the crime and took the police to the burial place.

Inspector Tanko confirmed that on that fateful day both Ketewa and Frimpong went to the bush at Kurofofrom with chainsaws to fell trees.
