President Akufo-Addo has commissioned the 60-bed Ahafo Ano North Municipal Hospital at Tepa in the Ashanti Region.

The health facility is expected to serve more than 15,000 people around the Ahafo Ano North Municipality and its environs.

Constructed by Euroget De-Invest, the Egyptian capital investment company also constructed the Wa Regional Hospital in the Upper West Region and the Ga East Municipal Hospital in Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.

President Akufo-Addo at the inauguration on Wednesday expressed gross appreciation to the chiefs and people of the area for providing the conducive environment for the construction and completion of the project.

The president charged the managers of the facility, particularly the Ghana Health Service to properly maintain the facility to serve the purpose for which it was constructed for.

He said government would continue to deliver human-centered programmes and policies to improve lives across the country.

The Resident Engineer for the hospital project, Mr Khaled Hamed and his team earlier conducted President Akuffo-Addo and his entourage round the newly constructed hospital.

The company is expected to train local personnel on the handling and management of the equipment in the facility as well as providing a warranty for at least two years.

The 60-bed hospital contains 28 medical and non-medical buildings with four operating theatres covering different specialties.

The hospital houses a radiology department equipped with ultrasound, echocardiography, x-ray machines; a laboratory; a maintenance unit and a central storage area.

It also has a water treatment system; sewerage treatment system; medical waste treatment system; a mortuary; a kitchen; physiotherapy unit; maternity and child care unit; pharmacy; laundry and a parking space for 120 cars.

It also has a 10-unit staff housing facility to accommodate key staff members.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Euroget De-Invest, Dr Said Deraz, said the commissioning of the Tepa project was “in fulfillment of our commitment to complete and handover all our projects on schedule.

“The facility we are handing over today is an ultramodern hospital built to the highest standards and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment comparable to the best in Africa and beyond.”
