One of the candidates in last month's District Assembly elections in the Kotobabi electoral area is contesting the result of the polls in the law courts.

Michael Ofosu Semanhyia who missed the assembly seat by two votes to Sylvester Yaw Kwakye, the incumbent, says the counting of ballots was fraught with irregularities.

He and some of his supporters have demonstrated in front of the Kotobabi office of the Electoral Commission (EC) to protest what they believe to be the EC's poor handling of the polls.

Mr. Semanhyia told JOY NEWS the Commission has refused to address his calls for a recount of the polls but the Greater Accra Regional Director of the EC, Mohamed Addoquaye says no action can be taken on the matter unless Mr. Semanhyia seeks legal redress.
