Venue Committee calls on Ga Traditional Council

The Accra Venue Organizing Committee (AVOC) a sub committee of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has called on the chiefs and elders of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) to lend support to the onerous task of repositioning Accra to host the expected one million visitors, who will converge in the city during Ghana 2008.

The AVOC made the call when its members paid a courtesy call on the Council to brief them about plans initiated by the LOC to bring meaning to the role residents of Accra will play towards the successful hosting of the tournament in Ghana.

Mr Martin Eson Benjamin, chairman of AVOC pointed out that sanitation and cleanliness are paramount for the committee, hence the slogan “Clean Living, Healthy Lifestyle.”

He said the committee also planned to include beautification on its agenda and would embark on vigorous tree planting exercises as well as efforts to standardize, regulate and position kiosks and their uses in the city.

Among members of AVOC who attended the function were Esther Dzifa Ofori, member of the LOC, Mrs Comfort Opoku, Messrs Sal Amagavie and Douglas Djarbeng, all members.

They were received by Nii Adotey Obuor, Sempe Mantse and acting President of the GTC, Nii Amarkai III, Asere Mantse, Nii Kodjo Ababio IV, James Town Mantse and Nii Owuo III, Osu Mantse.
