MR. Alibaba, Special Assistant to the Mayor of Accra, has said that the footbridge being constructed at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle will be a "No go area" for traders, beggers and lunatics when it is completed.
He said the AMA will, after the completion of the new market along the Odaw drain, stop all trading activities along the road, pavements, and all other footbridges in Accra to bring sanity in the city.
The footbridge, together with the three – lane dual-carriage which is being constructed by Taysec construction is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
The dual-carriage when completed is expected to ease traffic congestion at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and Achimota in Accra.
Mr. Isaac Quarm, Quantity Surveyor, Taysec Construction Limited said the footbridge has two walk-ways, a stair case and a ramp for pedestrians.
The ramp is specially made for disabled persons to be able to cross over the road without any risk.
