42-year-old woman enrolls in JSS One in Bolga

A 42-year-old woman has enrolled in JSS one at the Bukere Basic School in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

Mrs. Florence Kuubiu completed class six a few months ago and she is determined to obtain the Basic Education Certificate in about three years.

Mrs. Kuubiu is married with three children, one of whom is in JSS Three. The others are in primary five and six.

During a visit to her school by the deputy Upper East Regional Minister and educational directors, Mrs. Kuubiu explained that as a child, she could not be sent to school because her family could not afford to pay her fees.

At the age of 36 she enrolled in primary one with support from the Non-Formal Education Division of the Education Ministry.
