Former President Rawlings has accused the New Patriotic Party of deliberately neglecting former Speaker of Parliament, Justice D.F Annan at the time he was ill.

Speaking to a delegation of Justice Annan's family at the Rawlings residence, the former President also repeated his long held views of the NPP administration being corrupt and keen on intimidating and eliminating its political opponents.

According to him, D.F. Annan “was neglected for 2 years instead of a medical check up being arranged for him.

By the time, they attended to him which is the third year, it was too late.”

According to him, Mr. Annan's condition had worsened by that time.

He said, “They sit down and talk, talk about what? Politics is all they say. They left him and he died.”

Mr. Rawlings said, “While some of us were praying for him to live, others were praying for him to die.

Today, the NPP wants to give him a state burial, after insulting him, they insulted Dr. Grant who are all role models for all of us. The thieves among us are making sure such people do not live”

The former president also paid tribute to the Justice D.F Annan who was Speaker during the NDC's administration.

Mr. Rawlings described Justice Annan as a great asset whose virtues must be emulated.
He said, “With people like this you can never fail.”

Justice Annan's family expressed appreciation to the former President for his kindness during the former speaker's illness.
