Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu-Ankomah has urged Ghanaian nationals resident in the UK to help in minimising the infection rate in their community by observing the required health and safety etiquettes.

“…I am aware that we have sadly lost some of our beloved compatriots here in the United Kingdom to the deadly virus, and the coming days, officials of the High Commission will reach out to heads of the various unions to seek views on how the Mission can assist the Ghanaian Community to better manage our situation so as to minimize the impact on our community in the event of a second wave of the pandemic..”-HE Owusu-Ankomah advised.

The High Commissioner made these remarks at a special church service at the Auditorium of Freedom Chapel International UK, organized by the Ghana Christian Council (GCC) UK to thank God for his recovery from the COVID-19 virus.

It may be recalled that HE Papa Owusu-Ankomah became infected with the virus and was rushed to the famous Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London where he was hospitalised for weeks.

Prayers of thanksgiving were said by Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, Reverend (Dr) Canon Shadrack Ofosuware, Reverend (Dr) Lawrence Tetteh, Representatives of the Christian Council of Ghana.

Present at the service included Mrs. Tina Owusu-Ankomah-wife of the High Commissioner, Mrs Rita Tani Iddi, Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to the UK, Representatives of the Ghana Union UK, Representatives of Ghanaian Traditional rulers UK, as well as the staff of the Ghana High Commission UK.
