The Ghana Education Service Council has asked the Central Regional Director of Education to with immediate effect take over the administration of the Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary School in Cape Coast.

This follows the suspension of the headmaster of the school. Appiah Danquah's suspension follows a review of developments at the school by the GES Council.

The Council has also directed that an administrative and financial audit of the school covering the entire period of Mr. Danquah's stewardship be carried out.

The executives of the old students association of the school raised an alarm last month on overcrowding of students amidst other poor administrative practices in the school and asked the education authorities to institute an enquiry into the matter.

Acting Director General of the GES, Michael Nsowah told Joy News that the Regional Director of Education has also been asked to work with the AME Zion Church and other stakeholders to begin the process of appointing a new head for the school.
