Govt Erred In Adding Adenta Astro Turf To List Of Achievement – Oppong Nkrumah

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has admitted that the government erred in adding the construction of an astro turf in the Adenta Constituency to its list of infrastructure achievement.

The opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) at a press conference on Monday described 26 of the said achievements listed in a presentation by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as ‘ghost projects’.

Residents of Adenta say the Astro Turf project has been abandoned for more than four months.

Speaking in an interview with on Joy News monitored by Kasapafmonline.com, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah conceded it was an error to add that astro turf to its achievement.

He, however, stated that, that single error cannot take anything away from the Akufo Addo government’s unpreceded infrastructure achievement in its first term in office.

“I’ve heard Yaw Buaben Asamoah MP for the area make the point that yes, that was an error that shouldn’t have been included. One ghost project out of 17,334 does not make the entire presentation full of ghost projects.”

Asked how the government missed that, Hon. Oppong Nkrumah replied: “MMDCEs forward the data sets it was forwarded in, it turns out that it was inaccurate. I’m saying even if you discount 334 that is 17,000 infrastructure projects out there. The challenge has been for our colleagues on the other side to produce a data base of how many projects they have done so that you can make the comparison.”
