Mrs Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of Ghana, has reiterated government’s support to establishing the Young Women Entrepreneurship Initiative program to create massive jobs for Ghanaian women.

“If Ghana is to make any progress in developing a high-tech export industry, a lot of effort will need to be directed at investing more into Research and Development activities and that is why the Akufo-Addo led government has invested so much in Information Technology, Fashion & Beauty and Agtic Business,” she mentioned.

Mrs Samira Bawumia disclosed this during the Young Women Entrepreneurship Initiative programme in Accra on Wednesday.

According to the second lady, a number of policies have been initiated towards the achievement of the goals of providing ICT skills and knowledge to Ghanaian women that would enable them function well in society.

Mrs Samira Bawumia added that global competition and co-operation, information growth, changes in the context of jobs and careers and a growing service economy are some of the changes coupled with new skills required which women can tap and fit into it.
