What Is The Quran’s Teaching About Salvation?

What Is The Qurans Teaching About Salvation?
19.08.2020 LISTEN

Islam, the religion founded by Mr. Mohammad Abdallah said and teaches that sinners will be judged by good works. It states that fallen and unregenerate human beings do not need any blood atonement. Leading Muslim scholars have also echoed what Allah revealed to Mohammad in the Quran that sinful and fallen human beings do not need a savior to die for their sins; the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ was a farce and ineffectual. According to Madam Olive Toto, a leading Muslim scholar in Malaysia and author; “The Muslim Girls’ and Boys’ Pocket Book on Islam, Prayers and the Last Prophet of God, Mohammad:” Does a Muslim need anyone to wash away his or her sins, or did anyone die on a cross to save us? No, definitely no. A Muslim must wash away his or her own sins with prayer to God by being truly sorry. We Muslims believe that no man must die for our sins to wash away our sins, and that God could never want anyone to die for our sins. Jesus is a prophet (and not anyone’s savior). A Muslim must not believe that Jesus is God or a part of God and that he took the shape of a man and came down to die for our sins. We Muslims believe that no human being is born sinful, especially an innocent babe.”

Mr. Ahmed Deedat, the South African Muslim scholar and author maintained the same views expressed by Ms. Toto in many of his sermons, writings and debates during his life time. It is incredible to hear these statements from sinners. How then would Muslims be justified? What would happen to the sins committed by billions of Muslims or are Muslims saying they are not sinners? Muslims can't claim that it is their belief in Muhammad that would obliterate their sins because Muhammad himself told his supporters while alive that he did not know what would happen to him.

In Surah 46:9 Muhammad warned his followers to search for the real truth because he never came to offer salvation to anyone. He warned all Muslims on the path they are threading by following him because he-Muhammad- didn't know his own eternal destination not to talk of the eternal destination of his supporters. In other words, all Muslims are risking their eternal destiny. Surah 46: 9: “Say: ‘I am not the one who brings newly made up faith among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is made known to me by Revelation; I am only a Warner, open and clear.”

Mr. Muhammad, who Muslims revere and pronounce peace and blessings upon him each time his name is mentioned by over one billion of his followers today warned these ignorant followers to seek for the real Truth themselves. He warned them of what awaits them after their deaths; because he Muhammad was not the Messiah (Surah 3: 144) neither was he different from the rest human beings on earth born through the sinful blood of fallen Adam and Eve. In Surah 18: 110, Muhammad disclosed that he was also a sinner like the rest children of Adam and Eve and a mortal like you and I. “O Muhammad say to them, “I am a human being like you: it has been revealed to me that your Deity is only One Allah. Therefore the one who expects to meet his Lord, should not associate with Him any other deity in His worship” (See Surah Al-Khaf (18: 110). So, if Mr. Muhammad is not a Savior and to the Muslims, our Lord Jesus Christ too is not a Savior, who then is the Savior of the human race? To the Muslims, no one is a savior. Every human soul will account for his/her sins. As a matter of fact, no one is born a sinner as far as Muslims are concerned. But how will the sins of the human souls be atoned for and blotted out in case some of them sinned? The Quran has a ludicrous and banal answer in Surah 4: 31 thus: If you abstain from the heinous sins from which you are being forbidden, We will remit your trivial offenses and admit you to a place of honor.” Mohammad doubled down on this assertion again in Surah 53: 32 once again: “Those who keep away from great sins and shameful deeds, only being caught up in small faults-Surely your Lord is plentiful in forgiveness. He knows you well when he creates you out of the earth and when you are hidden in your mother’s wombs. Therefore, do not justify yourselves; He knows best who it is who keeps away evil.”

What Allah is telling the Muslims here is that those of them who run from big sins and big wickedness, but commit little sins shall be pardoned by Allah. This is serious! Is there anything like "big" or "small" sins? In 1 John 4: 3 of the Holy Bible, we read: "Everyone who sins breaks the law, in fact sin lawlessness,” Apostle John doubled down further on the same theme in 1 John 5: 17 when he said; “All sin is wrong-dong.” According to James: "Anyone then who knows the good he ought to do but doesn't do it sins" (James 4:17). Those are sharp contrasts to “small sins” and minor faults, and “big sins” that Muhammad penned in the Quran above. When you ask an average Muslim, to mention the "good works" he or she can point to that would merit God's forgiveness and entering into His paradise, he or she will gleefully reel out their rituals of five daily prayers, fasting for thirty days in the month of Ramadan, giving of alms and annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia called "hajj.” Some of them will boast of their honesty, gentleness, and love for their fellow human beings. The latter will gleefully quote Surah 49:13 “O mankind, we created you from one man and one woman, and then divided you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another. Indeed, the most honorable among you in the sight of Allah is he who is the most pious of you. Surely, Allah is All-knowing, All-Wise.”

The issues of sinless and self-righteousness written by Muhammad in the Quran are antithetical to the salvation by Grace through the Death, Crucifixion and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Bible. But almost paradoxically, the issue of salvation of lost souls is un-Quranic. This Allah, who revealed himself to Muhammad made it abundantly clear to him that he (Allah) had no business with anybody's salvation. He said those following him are doing so at their own risk and eternal peril. This Allah, who enjoins total submission from his worshippers told those worshipping him are threading on dangerous terrain but thanks be to the True God Almighty. He loves ALL: both believers and unbelievers, even sinners. It is not the sinner He hates but the sins. It is not His wish that any of His creatures should go to hell fire but the sinner should repent of his/her sins and acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior. God is the Father of us all, but not all human beings are His children. Only sincere belief, faith, obedience to and the acknowledgment of His Son, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can make us be adopted as His children.

After the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden; a redemption or “buying back" of Adam’s children (you and I) had to be put in place by an All-Wise and All-Knowing Jehovah Lord God Almighty. The disobedience of our First Parents in the Garden of Eden introduced sin and lawlessness into a hitherto sinless and peaceful world. God did not create Satan and his fallen angels; demons, principalities and hosts of darkness to disturb you and I. Adam and Eve invited these depraved, foul and unclean spirits into the world through their disobedience to God and obedience to Satan. By disobeying God and succumbing to Satan's temptations, they forfeited the rights and the rights of their children to exercise power, authority and dominion over the earth as God had pronounced in Genesis 1:26-27. They gave Satan, the archenemy of God the legal right to enter into the human race. If Adam and Eve had listened and obeyed God’s commandment: "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden but you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil... (Genesis I: 17), evil would not have entered into the world. But as it turned out, Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s law and commandment and ate the fruit of evil. This entered into their bloodstream making it impossible for them to commune, interact and fellowship with God Almighty. Since God is Good and Satan is Evil and the two are diametrically- opposed to each other, the Spirit of God had to depart from Adam and Eve. Man had gone to the side of God's Number One Enemy, Satan. Adam and Eve fell from spiritual to natural level, while Satan and his minions had previously fallen from spiritual to supernatural level since the latter are spirits without flesh. This fallen state of Adam and Eve affected the whole human race since we are their offspring's. How to remove the seed of Evil injected into us by our First Parents, Adam and Eve was what our Lord Jesus Christ came to accomplish on earth. There is a spiritual law of cause and effect which God Almighty Himself made which is that; every soul that sinned must suffer spiritual death. Satan and his fellow rebels sinned in heaven and were punished with eternal banishment from God’s heavenly Presence and finally fell down to the earth. The same thing happened to Adam and Eve; they sinned and were driven from God's presence. This was the pathetic state of man till our Lord Jesus Christ came unto the earth as God Incarnate. Adam's offspring's became object of oppression, devilish attack, satanic and all forms of demonic attacks immediately Adam and Eve lost their place in the Garden of Eden. God deliberately allowed Satan and his gangsters to put pepper into the eyes of Adam's children for us to know the difference between a Good, Caring and Loving God and a hateful, wicked and cruel Satan. But God could not tolerate man's sorry state after a while, thus this Good God had to personally come down to the earth two thousand years ago in His Son Jesus Christ to rescue the human race.

But why did God have to come down Himself to rescue lost humanity? First, God is a Merciful, Loving, Gracious, Kind and Caring God. He is also a Just God: He took into consideration the circumstances in which Adam and Eve disobeyed Him. Unlike Satan and his fallen angels who deliberately plotted a rebellion in heaven against the God-head in order to seize God's Throne, Adam and Eve on the other hand were incited, goaded and beguiled into disobeying God. There is a difference. As first and original offenders, Satan and his fallen angels do not have a second chance anymore, their matter had been judged and settled, and forever they cannot enter into God's Presence. They are eternally lost. However, for Adam's children (that is you and I) God decided to give us a second chance. And the way He did this was by punishing Jesus Christ in our behalf. We were the ones that sinned (Adam and Eve) but God decided to punish Jesus in our stead thereby justifying us. According to Apostle Paul in II Corinthians 5: 21: "God made him who had no sin to be a sin offering for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Similarly, the writer of Hebrews alluded to this in Hebrews 7: 27: “He (Jesus) sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.” No angel in heaven could have come down to earth to redeem and rescue us from the devilish stronghold of Satan. The man who sinned is the man who must die. Adam and Eve were human beings not angels so an angel could not have atoned" for their sin. ("The American College Dictionary Harper & Brothers Publishers defined atonement as: "make amends or reparation, for a crime or for an offender" or "to make up, as for errors or deficiencies or to agree or to make amends for, to expiate or to harmonize") At any rate, angels have no flesh so angels would have no blood to shed for the sin of man. Thus, God the Father decided to send God the Son down to earth for the flesh and the blood to accomplish this task. In carrying out this work of Redemption, God the Son (our Lord Jesus Christ) had to come in the likeness of man with body, flesh and blood. According to the writer of Hebrews in Hebrews 10: 5-7: “ Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: Sacrifice and offering you did not desire but a body you prepared for me, with burnt offerings and sins offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, "Here I am" - it is written about me in the scroll. I have come to do your will, O! God.” On the eve of His crucifixion, our Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples His mission earth which was just few hours away on that day (Mathew 26: 26-29). Shortly thereafter, the prophecy was fulfilled. Jesus then went to the heart of the earth immediately after His crucifixion to fix up the devil in Satan’s domain. Yes, our Lord Jesus Christ went to hell and came back. Since our Lord Jesus Christ had gone there on my behalf to retrieve back to Adam's offspring the power that Satan stole from my First Parents, I will never go to hell again. Hallelujah! This is the victory that Jesus Christ gave to those of us who believe and put our faith and trust in Him. For three days and three nights, Jesus Christ disgraced Satan and the rest hosts of darkness in hell. He messed them up thoroughly and disgraced those spiritual bullies. The Lord of lords and the Kings of kings cut Satan to size. According to Psalm 24: 7-10: “Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty - he is the King of glory. Those gates were the gates of hell. They must be lifted up for the King to come in. Who is that King? Jesus Christ of Nazareth! He got there, met the Patriarchs: Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, Joseph, David etc. who were all being held by Satan. Our Lord. Jesus Christ could not be held by Satan and the demon of Death in the Nether Gloom; according to Luke in Acts 2: 24 "because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.” Our Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the longing of one of the Patriarchs, King David when he prophesied long ago in one of his songs in Psalm 16: 9-10: “Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.” After three days later, this Jesus Christ emerged after he had disgraced Satan and his fiendish forces in hell according to Colossians 2: 14: “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” After our Lord, Master and Savior Jesus Christ accomplished these tasks and turned Satan into a spent-force, Jesus then declared exultantly, jubilantly and victoriously to the eternal shame of Satan but to the eternal jubilation of Adams offspring, who will choose to believe, trust and put their faith in Him, according to Mathew 28: 18: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me,” and then this Lord Jesus Christ issued a command of authority, power and dominion, which we lost in the Garden of Eden years ago but now retrieved back thus in Mark 16: 17-18: “ And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Praise the Lord! Praise Jesus!

It does not matter whatever Muslims say about the Crucifixion, Sacrificial Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, because we know that "God is not man that he should lie" (Numbers 23: 19) and" let God be true and every man be a liar" (Romans 3:4). This is our belief as redeemed children of God for we know that those that the True Lord God Almighty had predestined, those too He had redeemed, and the redeemed are those that He has justified and those justified are those now being sanctified or made holy by the enablement of the indwelling Holy Spirit for us to be glorified when our Lord Jesus Christ eventually comes to take us home. He is coming back for us; He is our Messiah and we have the full assurances of His promises in John 14: 1-3: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my father’s house are many rooms, if it were not so. I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” But what is the hope of Muslims, the followers of Muhammad, the messenger of Allah? It is paradoxical for Muslims to deny the Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ but at the same time believe His Second Coming. Yes, Islam teaches it that Jesus Christ is coming back again to this earth to take His own to heaven. According to Surah 43: 61: “He- (Isa-Jesus) is, in fact, a sign for the coming of the Hour of Doom. Therefore, have no doubt about its coming, follow me; this is the Right Way.”(Malik Translation). The Picktall Translation rendered Surah 43: 61 thus: “And lo! Verily there is knowledge of the Hour. So doubt ye not concerning it, but follow Me. This is the right path,” even though the English man cleverly removed the name Isa (Jesus) from his English Translation after the word: lo!” but Yusuf Ali retained Isa (Jesus) in his translation thus: “And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour) but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.” Albeit the same Quran says our Lord Jesus Christ did not die but Christ was taken up to heaven but as for Muhammad, Islam teaches and Quran says he had come and died and will never come back to life again. So why are Muslims investing their eternal destination into the slippery and uncertain hands of a dead man? As Psalm 146: 3-5 warned: “Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing,” but “ Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them - the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

The hope of a Muslim on the Day of Judgment is that, he/she shall be judged by his/her good works. The big sins he/she had committed will be judged but the smaller sins shall be forgiven by Allah, but Allah is not the Great Judge, because Allah is a demon-god and not the True Jehovah Lord God Almighty. Muslims do not want and have rejected the Righteousness that the Blood Atonement of the Death and Crucifixion of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ had won for us on Calvary. They want to establish their own judgment before the Righteous Judge, which is no righteousness at all, because by no human strength will any human being be justified before the Great Judge; our Lord, Master and Savior Jesus Christ. As Apostle Paul disclosed ion Romans 1: 18-22: “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.”
