My interactive discussions with some Ghanaians desirous of the socio-economic development of Ghana conclude that official corruption has always been the major militating factor drawing Ghana back. It is the bane of Ghana's economic development.

Without our ability to successfully decapitate the ruinous official corruption by all means possibly available to us as a people and nation, Ghana's development will take unnecessarily long, if not become a vain chase of the wind.

However, with too much powers concentrated in the hands of the President of the Republic by the 1992 Constitution, we had better be careful who we vote for as the President of Ghana.

Practical observations and evidence out there in the public domain do confirm that former President John Dramani Mahama is a walking infectious corruption. He is himself a carrier of contagious corruption, if not corruption itself. He infects not only his family members but cronies and his government appointees, his party members that have close access to him, his alleged celebrity concubines, etc.

As by his persona, he is a carrier of contagious corruption, easily infecting people. There is no wonder that most Ghanaians being potential corrupt persons get easily infected coming into close contact with Mr John Dramani Mahama aka "Opana"

Are Ghanaians shocked at the level of official corruption in Ghana under then President John Dramani Mahama? Just look at how corruption ramified. Many crooks set up Ponzi scheme microfinance companies just to steal money from unsuspecting depositors. Look at how some banks owners and shareholders did not only squander depositors' money but also, the government liquidity support given to them to make them operational.

Do we blame them? Yes and no. We can blame them for being dishonest with their customers despite the inherent circumstantial urge for them to use the money, in defiance of all professional banking rules and regulations. We cannot blame them because someone at the top was stealing money as though tomorrow never come, so why not they?

Even with things turning out to prove the actions of the owners of the banks and microfinance companies engaged in such unprecedented financial malpractices, former President John Dramani Mahama is blaming his successor, Nana Akufo-Addo, for failing to continue to provide the banks and microfinance companies with liquidity support. Is he serious as a person let alone, a president or presidential material?

Is it not a case of the corruption affecting his brains hence his seeming faulty reasoning ability? Why will a normal rational being expect one to continue to throw money down the drain without first seeking to block the drain so that the money so thrown into it will not be washed away?

Look at the two younger siblings of Mr John Dramani Mahama. Have both not in a way or the other involved themselves in gargantuan corruption, swindling Ghana of millions of Cedis of the taxpayers' money or bringing disgrace upon Ghana in the international arena?

Some of the government appointees under then President John Dramani Mahama were obviously stealing money, or were engaged in malfeasances. When their acts of corruption came into public domain, the best the carrier of contagious corruption could do was to move them from their post to another. Was Elvis Afriyie Ankrah not one of such corrupt characters that should have been investigated, sacked, prosecuted and convicted? But he was moved from his post as Minister for Youth and Sports to become a Minister of State at the Office of the President, a position following a cabinet reshuffle by President Mahama after he, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, had corruptly failed to account for millions of US dollars he freighted to Brazil intended for the Ghana Black Star footballers.

What message was President Mahama sending to Ghanaians, creating another fertile ground for Elvis Afriyie Ankrah to continue to practice corruption? He was not the only one of this kind but many more.

Anyone with an underlying corrupt condition was easily infected by President Mahama coming into contact with him. As anyone with an underlying condition of diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, stroke, etc. risks death when attacked by novel coronavirus (Covid-19), so were those with high sense of avarice easily succumbed to the corruption infection when come into contact with him.

As corruption exacerbates the underdevelopment of Ghana, killing through suffocation any means to develop Ghana, but with corruption gladly perpetrated and perpetuated by former President Mahama, if I had my own way, I will ask Ghanaians not to cast a single vote for him in his attempts to stage a comeback.

Remember his many evil ways of corruption to pay him back in his own selfish and greedy coin. It is "Mahama nie, corruption nie". Nonetheless, Ghanaian music legends Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Lucky Mensah, Great Ampong, etc. do not want corrupt Mahama at the presidency anymore.

Let us enjoy the lyrics of the following song.

I dedicate this publication to all discerning Ghanaians, especially, my friend Mr Owusu in Agona Nsaba, old "London Burger"
