When Mahama Protests “Injustice” at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi

Feature Article When Mahama Protests Injustice at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi

I did not see the entire YouTube video sent to me via WhatsApp. But it was rather pathetic to hear Candidate Mahama attempt to take undue credit for resolving the protracted Dagbon Chieftaincy Crisis. I bet my bottom-dollar that this impudent political scammer par-excellence could not have looked more asinine in the majestic and pensive eyes of Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama, who clearly looked on with visible amused contempt, as the pathological megalomaniac and clinical kleptocrat who abortively attempted to prevent the historic compilation of the new National Biometric Voters’ Register (NBVR) smugly and peevishly introduced himself as the Presidential Candidate of Ghana’s main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), for the 2020 Presidential Election (See “Akufo-Addo Is Undermining Ghana’s Peace, Freedom with Fear, Intimidation and Threat of Death – Mahama” Modernghana.com 8/9/20).

You would think that Candidate Mahama would flatly refuse to be issued with one of the new Voter’s ID Cards and, instead, insist on using the old deliberately overproduced and cheaply rented old NDC Voters’ ID Cards and see just what would happen. But, of course, as anybody could have accurately predicted, the man does not seem to fully appreciate the gravity of the abusive language of political threats. Or he was simply a paper tiger, a veritable lily-livered coward. Attempting to scam Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama into thinking and believing that Little Dramani had had any major role in the definitive resolution of the protracted Dagbon Chieftaincy Crisis could not have been more ludicrous, especially since Yaa Naa Abubakari had already recognized and lavishly honored His Royal Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whose sui generis genius had brought the internecine feud of the Dagbon Monarchy to a definitive conclusion, and the initiation of the civilized and glorious inauguration of real industrial progress in the Dagbon subnational polity or Kingdom.

At the Gbewaa Palace, a cognitively addled or lame-brained Little Dramani was peevishly pretending as if the enskinment of Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama was a facile act of some divinely ordained hocus-pocus dropped down from the sky, rather than being the veritable fruit of the leadership genius and common sense of the grandson of the immortalized Nana Sir Osagyefo Ofori-Atta, I, (aka Nana Kwaku Duah The Shorter). There is another grim political irony here, of course, which is the fact that the ideological antecedent of the National Democratic Congress, to wit, the Rawlings-led junta of the erstwhile Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC), spent 11 “revolutionary” years thoroughly dismantling Ghana’s seminal industrial architecture under the procrustean economic straitjacket policy strangulation of the Bretton-wood-sponsored and Kwesi Botchwey-midwifed Structural Adjustment Program (SAP).

As one prominent social scientist recently observed, Ghana in 1970, that is shortly after the overthrow of the Nkrumah-led government of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), was far more industrially and technologically advanced than the Ghana presided over or grossly and wantonly misruled by the Jerry John Rawlings-led junta of the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC). The National Democratic Congress, the direct institutional progeny of the PNDC, has essentially become the regressive foil to a jet-propelled lightning speed progressive and visionary New Patriotic Party. Nearly every national development policy initiative introduced and/or implemented by the leaders of the New Patriotic Party has either been thoroughly bankrupted by the leadership of the National Democratic Congress or totally destroyed by the latter gang of determined nation-wreckers.

Among the New Patriotic Party-implemented programs and policy initiatives are the National Health Insurance Scheme, the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) and the School-Feeding Program. The list goes on and on and on and on. What greater intimidation or reign-of-terror in Ghana’s Fourth Republic could have been worse than the sort of judicial terrorism orchestrated by former President John Dramani Mahama, with the mercenary complicity of Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas, proprietor of the Tiger-Eye Private Investigators Limited Liability Company, which cynically and unwisely sought to project to the global community how downright dysfunctional and irredeemably corrupt and credibility-bereft was Ghana’s judicial system and establishment. And yet, candidate Mahama would have Ghanaians believe that state institutions like our judicial establishment and the Ghana Police Service have been undermined and unacceptably compromised by the Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party.

If, indeed, our national security apparatus operated independently of the Mahama Flagstaff House, as Jubilee House was then called, then how come Dr. Edward Akuffo-Dampare was bumped off the JB Danquah-Adu Assassination Investigations? Who were extant Inspector-General of the Ghana Police Service, Mr. John Kudalor, and the then-President John Dramani Mahama trying to cover up for? Which is also why I think that until Little Dramani gets back with his shrink and gets his psychotropic and barbiturate prescription medications renewed, the man can simply not be taken seriously.
