Three coaches have been shortlisted by the Ghana FA (GFA) for the vacant national manager's post.

Frenchmen Philippe Troussier, Claude LeRoy and former Ghana boss Cecil Jones Attuquayefio were selected from over 50 coaches that applied for the job.

Troussier has managed six national teams, including Ivory Coast, Nigeria and 2002 World Cup hosts Japan, while Leroy led Cameroon to Nations Cup victory in 1988 and took DR Congo to the quarter-finals at the 2006 edition in Egypt.

Attuquayefio, who led Benin to their first Nations Cup finals in 2004, won the African Champions League with Accra Hearts of Oak in 2000.

The GFA has been looking for a replacement since Serbian Ratomir Dujkovic, who led Ghana to the second round at the World Cup finals, quit his post.

Other coaches that applied for the job include Nigerian Stephen Keshi, the former Togo coach, Austrian Hans Krankl and German Pierre Littbarski.

Marcel Desailly, the former France captain, was initially expected to apply and had been touted as the favourite.

But the Ghana-born Desailly said his off-field commitments bar him from taking up the job.

The GFA, who have not announced a date for shortlisting the three candidates, are expected to name the new national coach in September.
