One Killed, Another Hospitalized In Robbery Attack At Tilli-Zebilla Road

A driver of a cargo truck with registration number BA 635-19, Damoah Prosper has been killed and a mate hospitalized in a broad day robbery incident on the Zebilla-Tilli highway in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region yesterday Thursday.

The mate Kwajo Isaac told ModernGhana News that they were returning from Bawku after distributing eggs to their customers and upon reaching a bridge near Tilli, two guys wielding guns appeared from the bush and stopped them.

According to him, the robbers ordered them to step out and surrender all their monies which the driver obeyed and handed over GHC2,600.00 to them.

He noted that after collecting the monies they shot and killed the driver instantly and wounded him.

The mate who said they are from Abesim in Sunyani has been hospitalized at Zebilla hospital receiving treatment.

An eyewitness, Ayeebo Cletus, narrated that he and his colleague on their motorbike behind the truck saw from afar that the cargo truck had been stopped by the robbers.

He indicated that upon sensing danger, he and his colleague slowed down their motorbike and apparently heard gunshots which prompted them to stop.

After the gunshots, Ayeebo Cletus added that the robbers jumped into the bush and escaped.

According to him, they rushed to the cargo car and saw the driver body lifeless and the mate wounded.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at Bolgatanga Regional hospital mortuary for autopsy.
