MTN Launch '2020 MoMo Month' To Reward Customers, Agents & Merchants
MTN Ghana has today, August 5 officially launched the ‘2020 Mobile Money (MoMo) Month’ to encourage a cashless payment system.
It will reward customers, agents, as well as merchants. .
Today at the MTN House at Ridge, the leading telecommunications network in the country has launched '2020 MoMo Month' to encourage the citizenry to embrace the digital payment system on a daily basis.
Speaking at the launch on the theme ‘The Relevance of MoMo in a Covid-19 World’ Mr. Eli Hini who is the head of Financial Services at MTN explained the rationale behind the initiative for this year.
“Ultimately, it is to ensure that we can bring more Ghanaians to become financially included in the cashless system”, he stressed.
According to him, mobile money services have been key for the digital financial system over the past 11 years and is even crucial during this period of Covid-19:
“It has been the vehicle all this while to get to where we are now. It has helped us to transform the industry, it has helped us to do a lot of other things, and even through the month the stakeholder events help us to look at policy again and discuss areas where the business can be more productive and grow. It is an opportunity to recognize the hard work of our customers agents and merchants”, Mr. Eli Hini added.
Explaining how one can participate in the promo, Abdul Majeed Rufai who is a Senior Manager, Commercial at MTN said: “The promo is pay to merchants. For every GHS1 that you spend you get 1 point. And once you get one point within the month you are supposed to pay to at least 5 different merchants”.
He added, “Just go ahead and do your everyday payment that you do with MoMo. You want to buy Koko, just MoMo it. You want to board a taxi, just MoMo it. You want to pay your tithe, just MoMo it. Everything that you need to do, just MoMo it and make sure you pay to the merchant number to accumulate your points”.
Payments for goods and services for this promo are to be made through merchant IDs and via the use of QR Codes if the customer is using the MTN Mobile Money app.
