Gomoa Central: Breach Of Social Distancing Protocols Hindering COVID-19 Fight

Gomoa Central DCE, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo has said that his major challenge towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the District is Social Distancing.

"The Assembly is doing everything within its power to ensure that all Covid-19 protocols are fully observed but some people are becoming adamant

Through the Presiding Member, the Assembly has written series of reminders to all the communities about the need for them to adhere to the restrictions as announced by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo stressing the need for them to keep to the directives

However, people are becoming adamant towards the fight against Covid-19 Pandemic

I humbly appeal to Nananom, Religious Leaders, Youth Groups and Associations to assist the Assembly to intensify public campaign on Covid-19

Enough PPEs have been supplied to the communities. What we have to work on is social Distancing especially during private burials"

The Gomoa Central DCE stated these during last Saturday's National Fumigation Exercise in the District to disinfect all public places as part of the fight against Covid-19 pandemic

Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo commended Zoomlion Company Limited, Assembly staff, Head of the Environmental Health Department, Mr. Francis Adarkwa, Head of Gomoa District Community Development, Mr. Bashirudeen Wahab Aidoo, Assembly Member for Afransi, Hon. Fifi Duncan and Nananom for a successful disinfection exercise

" I must also commend the spraying team for their brilliant performance. Their collaboration with the Assembly was perfect making it possible to cover all the 34 communities in the District.

We were able to disinfect all Markets, Community/Information centers, Public Toilets, Lorry Stations, school environment, and Police Stations.

This exercise is going to be done on a regular basis. We won't wait for National Exercise before joining.

We have a strong team to execute the job perfectly to prevent Covid-19 related diseases" Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo noted

Presiding Member for Gomoa Central District Assembly, Hon. Kweku Nyarko Koomson in an interview with newsmen disclosed that the Assembly has notified Security Agencies in the District to monitor activities of mourners who flaws in the restriction directives and deal with them as the law requires

"I just can't understand why people are deliberately refusing to observe the Covid-19 protocols especially on Social Distancing

I must commend Churches, the Moslem Community, Market Women Associations, Hairdressers and Dressmakers Association, Association of Garages and other groups and Associations for adherence to the protocols

Gomoa Central District Assembly stands tall in curbing the spread of Covid-19 infections and we won't allow the few individuals to tarnish its image."
