six people died on the spot and others sustained various degrees of injuries when a 207 benz bus crashed with a nissan pick up at mfensi on the kumasi -sunyani road.
the 207 benz bus with registration number AS 2301 U was heading to sunyani from kumasi whiles the nissan pick up with registration number GW 1199 V was coming from the opposite direction when the accident occured.
The accident happened around 7 am yesterday and with the help of locals the injured and dead bodies were sent to the Komfo Anokye teaching hospital by the police from mankranso police station.
The dead bodies have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye mortuary whiles the injured are at the intensive care unit of the hospital and are responding to treatment.
Our reporter found out that the 207 benz bus according to eyewitness ran over the nissan pick up after bursting its rear tires and crashed into a pit.
Some belongings of the accident victims including cash were at the accident scene. It is now becoming clear that the sunyani-kumasi road
has now become a death trap with severe fatalities in
recent times.
About two months ago 35 people died on the road when a 207 benz bus collided headlong with a STC bus when they were attending a funeral.
All two persons in the nissan pick up including both drivers survived .
according to the eye witness , the 207 benz bus was coming at top speed when its rear tyre got burst and the driver of the nissan pick up sensing danger stopped but the 207 benz bus veered onto the other lane running over the pick up before crushing into a
pit.
The officer in charge at the mankranso police station,inspector A.A Mensah, said they were at the office when they had information about the accident where they rushed to convey the inhured to the
hospital.
He advised the drivers on the sunyani-kumasi road to be extra careful on the road to help save lives.
