AKWASI Adusei, 43, an auto body straightener at Kasoa, who allegedly hired two others to kill his aunt, Yaa Dufie, 68, in connection with an unauthorised sale of a building plot at Weija near Accra appeared before the Cocoa Affairs Court on July 24, provisionally charged with murder.

With him in the dock were the two, Isaac Eshun, 23, driver of the deceased and his friend, Kingsley Asare, 21, mechanic.

Their plea was not taken and were remanded in custody to appear again on August 28.

The fact of the case are that, Eshun who used to drive Madam Dufie's Opel Kadett taxi, GR 9964 U, disappeared with it for three days and returned on July 17 at about 10 am compelling the owner to collect the car keys after rejecting his apology.

Unknown to her Eshun had allegedly brought along Asare who was waiting outside the main gate of her Sempe Valley residence near Weija. She escorted Eshun to the gate where she saw Asare who also pleaded on behalf of his friend.

When Madam Dufie rejected their plea, Eshun told her that he had some electrical items to collect from her house but she replied that those items could only be collected in the presence of Kwame Kwakye, a tenant cum-caretaker who had then gone to town.

Eshun however allegedly followed Madam Dufie to the living room while Asare who joined them later was asked by Eshun to go and lock the main gate and he replied that he had already locked it.

Ms Dufie who started eating was suddenly allegedly attacked by the two who bundled her into her bed room, strangled her and ransacked the house.
After looting the house and loading their booty in the taxi to an unknown place, the two friends returned to the deceased's house where they met Kwakye with Eshun ironically asking of the whereabouts of the deceased.

Kwakye who replied that he had just come from town asked that they check in the living room but found it ransacked.

Upon Kwakye's request, Rose Osei, the deceased's neighbour, was informed of the raid supposedly by armed robbers.

Ms Osei hurriedly accompanied them to the house and found it ransacked with Ms Dufie lying dead in the bedroom.
